FlexCare Coverage for Ram Trucks

"Ram extended warranty" is how many truck owners search for coverage after the factory warranty. The factory-backed option is FlexCare, Stellantis' vehicle service contract program (formerly Mopar Vehicle Protection). FlexCare plans are vehicle service contracts, not warranties or insurance: they help pay for covered repairs under the terms, exclusions and deductible in your contract, at authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, FIAT and Alfa Romeo dealers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Why Ram Owners Look at Extended Coverage

Trucks work hard. They tow, haul and rack up miles, and a modern Ram carries a lot of drivetrain and electronic hardware. On FlexCare's published coverage chart, these truck-relevant parts are among those listed:

• Engine, turbo and diesel parts (all three Extended Care tiers): cylinder block and internal parts, cylinder heads, timing components, turbocharger housing and internal parts, turbocharger wastegate actuator, fuel injection pump (diesel engines only), and fuel injectors (excluding clogged injectors).

• Transmission and 4x4 driveline (all three tiers): automatic transmission case and internal parts, torque converter, transmission cooler, hoses and lines, transfer case and internal parts, front and rear axle housings and internal parts, and drive shafts.

• Towing and hauling-related parts: rear leaf springs, rear spring hangers and shackles, rear auxiliary springs and shock absorbers (Premium and Plus); trailer sway damping system and auxiliary 115-volt power outlet (Premium).

• Diesel and gauge extras: glow plugs (Premium); turbo gauge (Premium and Plus).

• Electronics: engine, transmission and body control modules (Premium and Plus); Uconnect® hands-free communication, ParkSense® and remote start (OEM) (Premium).

Your plan provision lists exactly what is and isn't covered. Maintenance and wear items, damage and pre-existing problems generally aren't. Keep your truck maintained per the owner's manual and keep your receipts.

Which FlexCare Plan Fits Your Ram?

• Extended Care Premium (formerly Maximum Care): FlexCare's broadest mechanical plan, covering more than 5,000 components, including the towing tech and electronics above.

• Extended Care Plus (formerly Added Care / Added Care Plus): more than 800 major components, including many electrical parts and rear suspension parts.

• Extended Care (formerly Powertrain Care Plus): engine (including turbo and diesel injection pump), transmission, driveline, steering and air conditioning.

• EV Extended Care: FlexCare's plans for battery-electric vehicles.

Every Extended Care plan includes 24-hour towing and roadside assistance (up to $100 per occurrence), trip interruption coverage (up to $1,000 when a covered failure happens more than 100 miles from home) and rental allowances, subject to contract limits. Compare all plans →

Ram 1500

Half-ton owners often weigh Plus against Premium based on how much technology is in the truck. If your 1500 has a big touchscreen, driver-assist features, power running boards or a long list of options, compare what Premium adds on the parts list. If you mainly care about the engine, transmission and 4x4 hardware, Extended Care covers those systems.

Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty

Heavy-duty owners usually focus on the diesel and the drivetrain. The turbocharger, diesel fuel injection pump, injectors, transmission and transfer case appear on all three tiers. Glow plugs and trailer sway damping are listed on Premium only. If your truck tows or carries a lot, tell us when you request a quote.

Work Trucks, Upfits and Modifications

Some trucks are used for business, and some are upfitted or modified. Commercial use, upfits and modifications can affect eligibility and coverage, and FlexCare also offers separate commercial vehicle plans. Ask before you buy: tell us how the truck is used and what's been added, and we'll check which plan applies.

Ram FlexCare Questions

Is FlexCare a Ram extended warranty?

It's often called that, but FlexCare plans are vehicle service contracts, separate from and in addition to your factory limited warranty.

Does FlexCare cover my diesel engine?

All three Extended Care tiers list the engine block and internals, turbocharger and diesel fuel injection pump on FlexCare's chart. Exclusions apply, so check the plan provision. We can walk you through it.

Can I buy coverage for a used Ram?

Often, yes. Pre-owned plans are available for vehicles up to 10 model years old and under 150,000 miles (under 125,000 for vehicles with a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty), and an inspection is required. Availability, terms and price depend on your VIN, mileage, in-service date and eligibility.

Can I pay monthly?

Most mechanical plans can be bought on FlexCare's interest-free monthly payment plan; a down payment is required.

Do I have to come to Springfield, TN?

No. You can request a quote from anywhere, and paperwork and payment can often be completed remotely.
