FlexCare for the Jeep® Wrangler: A Buyer's Guide

This page is a Wrangler-only guide. Our Jeep coverage page covers the whole Jeep lineup, and this one goes deeper on the Wrangler. Owners often call it a "Wrangler extended warranty," but FlexCare plans are vehicle service contracts, not warranties or insurance. They're separate from your factory limited warranty and are governed by your contract's terms, exclusions and deductible.

How to read it: every tier lists the parts that make a Wrangler a 4x4. The differences show up in the steering and suspension, the top and doors, and the electronics.

Three Wrangler Owner Types and How They Tend to Choose

• Daily driver, mostly pavement. If you mainly worry about the big drivetrain repairs, Extended Care lists the engine, transmission, transfer case and axles.

• Weekend trails, stock or near-stock. Front-end and suspension parts start to matter, and many of them are Premium-only on the chart (steering damper, axle trac bar, front spring parts). Compare Extended Care Plus with Premium.

• Loaded trims or soft-top/Sky One-Touch owners. Tops, Uconnect hands-free and the driver aids are Premium-listed items.

These are starting points, not recommendations for your specific vehicle. We'll quote more than one tier so you can compare.

Lifts, Tires and Accessories

Wrangler owners modify more than most. FlexCare's Premium chart lists Mopar accessories installed at an authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, FIAT or Alfa Romeo facility. Aftermarket parts, and repairs related to them, are handled according to your contract. Modifications can affect coverage, so tell us what's installed or planned and ask before you buy.

Timing Your Purchase

• New Wrangler: you can buy a new-vehicle plan any time within 3 years/36,000 miles of the warranty start date, though a surcharge may apply after 1 year/12,000 miles. Coverage starts on the original warranty start date at zero miles.

• Pre-owned Wrangler: eligible up to 10 model years old with fewer than 150,000 miles (fewer than 125,000 with a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty). An inspection is required, and coverage starts on the purchase date.

• Certified Pre-Owned: requires an active CPO Limited Warranty and fewer than 75,000 miles.

Keep Records After the Trail

FlexCare requires you to operate and maintain the vehicle as described in the owner's manual and to keep your receipts and work orders. If you wheel your Wrangler, follow the owner's manual for any added maintenance it calls for under heavy use and keep the paperwork.

Wrangler FlexCare Questions

Is the Wrangler 4xe covered here?

The 4xe has hybrid parts that need separate answers, so it has its own page: Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe.

Does coverage transfer if I sell my Wrangler?

In most cases, yes. A transfer fee applies ($50 in most states), the plan must be paid off, and you request the transfer within 60 days of the sale.

Where can I get it fixed on a road trip?

At any authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, FIAT or Alfa Romeo dealer in the U.S., Canada or Mexico. Plans also include trip interruption coverage (up to $1,000 when a covered failure happens more than 100 miles from home), subject to the contract.
