Pacifica: A Minivan Full of Moving Parts

Minivans have features a sedan or pickup doesn't: sliding doors, fold-flat seats and rear entertainment. On FlexCare's published coverage chart, these Pacifica-relevant parts are listed under Extended Care Premium:

• Stow 'n Go® seat mechanisms and power folding seat motors

• Power sliding door motors, the power sliding door/liftgate module and the sliding door alert warning system

• The rear A/C assembly, heater core and rear seat video systems

• ParkSense® rear backup systems, the Uconnect® hands-free system and USB ports

Extended Care Plus lists many of the electrical and power features, including power window and seat motors, the body control module, factory radios and speakers, and the keyless entry module. It doesn't list the sliding door motors, Stow 'n Go mechanisms or rear video. Extended Care focuses on the engine, transmission, driveline, steering and A/C.

So the main Pacifica question is how much the family uses the van's convenience features. If they get heavy use, compare Premium's parts list on Compare Plans before you decide.

Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid

The Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid pairs a gasoline engine with electric drive and a high-voltage battery. Its hybrid and high-voltage parts also carry their own factory warranty coverage (see your warranty booklet). FlexCare's EV Extended Care plans are listed for battery-electric vehicles, and not every plan treats hybrid systems the same way. Ask us which FlexCare plan applies to your Pacifica Hybrid and which hybrid components it does and doesn't cover. We'll confirm by VIN before you buy.

Chrysler 300

The 300 is a rear- or all-wheel-drive sedan, and many owners keep it for years. On FlexCare's chart, its engine, automatic transmission and torque converter, its drive shaft and rear axle, and its AWD transfer case are listed on all three tiers. Premium adds items such as heated seat modules, the memory seat module, remote start (OEM) and the tire pressure monitoring system.

Older 300? Traditional pre-owned plans are available for vehicles no more than 10 model years old with fewer than 150,000 miles (fewer than 125,000 for vehicles with a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty), and they require an inspection. If you're near either limit, request a quote soon, because eligibility is checked when you buy.

• Extended Care Plus (formerly Added Care / Added Care Plus): more than 800 major components.

• Extended Care (formerly Powertrain Care Plus): engine, transmission, driveline, steering and A/C.

Every Extended Care plan includes 24-hour towing and roadside assistance (up to $100 per occurrence), a First Day Rental allowance for same-day dealership visits, and trip interruption coverage, subject to contract limits.

Chrysler FlexCare Questions

Can I add the plan to my car payment?

Only at the time you buy or lease the vehicle, and only with lender approval. If you buy coverage later, most mechanical plans can be paid through FlexCare's interest-free monthly payment plan, which requires a down payment.

If I sell the van, does the coverage go with it?

In most cases the remaining coverage can be transferred to the next owner. A transfer fee applies ($50 in most states), and a financed plan has to be paid off first.

Can I upgrade later?

New-vehicle plans can be changed within 3 years/36,000 miles of the warranty start date, and traditional pre-owned plans within 60 days of purchase.
